Sri. K.S Balakrishnan has over 25 odd years of professional experience as a Carnatic vocalist, nattuvannar (Cymbal percussionist for Indian Classical Dance) and prolific music composer for South Indian Classical Dances. Balakrishnan has also received awards for his contribution towards music in Indian Classical Dance as well as for providing vocal support for dance.

Sri. K.S. Balakrishnan has done music compositions for Bharathanatyam Repertoire. Apart from that, he has also composed music for several thematic presentations in Indian Classical Dance. His music compositions include Krishna Guruvayurappa , Shivavum Tamilzhum, Dikshithars Pancha Bootham, Seetha Kalyanam, Diksitha Dasavatharam, Solo Items including Pushpanjalai, THillanas, Mallari, Jathis, Ect.

He also composed music for Indian and Western Fusion Music Show named "Sapthaswara" at SIngapore. Ramayanam Raga Malika in Bhavayami Raghu Ramam have been composed in four styles Bharathanatyam, Kathak, Mohiniyattam and Odissi.

Composed solo items including Pushpanjali, Thillanas, Mallari, Jathis etc.
